The Music School Complex

The history of artistic education in Ruda Śląska dates back to 1946. Then, after World War II, the Mieczysław Karłowicz Professional Music School was founded. A dozen or so years later, it was transformed into the Municipal, and then into the State Music Center, which operated until 1970, when another change took place - the First Degree State Music School was established.

Originally, the school occupied a building at 350 1 Maja Street that no longer exists. In 1990, the school was moved to a new building, one of the most interesting post-war buildings in the city. In 1996, it was patronized by an outstanding composer of the Baroque period - Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki. The second degree was established here in 2010, and in the following year the Complex of Music Schools of the I and II degree was established.
