
CHOIR OF THE SILESIAN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY IN KATOWICE
The Choir of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice was established in 2018 at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze, Silesian Medical University, on the initiative of students. Over 60 people, despite their heavy academic workload, find time for joint singing and performing concerts.
The conductor of the Choir is Dr. Marta Zielińska, a graduate of the conducting symphonic-opera program at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
Marta Zielińska is also a graduate of the medical program at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze, Silesian Medical University in Katowice.
Over the years of its activity, the Silesian Medical University Choir has won numerous awards at choral competitions:

Grand Prize in the adult choir category and gold diploma in the adult choir category at the VII Baltic Choir Competition "Pomerania Cantat" in Koszalin-Słupsk, 2024

First place at the XXII Małopolska Choral Song Review of Carols and Pastorals in Miechów, 2024

First place with the Grand Prix award at the VII National Festival of Carols and Pastorals in Karczmiska, 2024

Main prize in the International Music Competition for Large Performance Groups by IYMC of the USA, 2024

Gold medal at the international choral competition in Olomouc, Czech Republic "Mundi Cantant", 2023, and a special award for outstanding conducting and repertoire selection for Marta Zielińska

Silver diploma at the XVI International Choir Festival Kazimierz Fober "Gaude Cantem", 2022

First place in the large groups category (bands, choirs, orchestras, large ensembles) in the competition organized by International Youth Music Competitions (2021) for the music video "Medics' Funk"

Second place at the V Jubilee National Festival of Carols and Pastorals in Łazy, 2020.
The choir members not only strive to prepare professionally for artistic performances but also engage in charitable activities, which has made the SUM Choir a group of friends who proudly represent their alma mater.
